Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has extended his contract until 2020.

 The Gabon international had been linked with a potential move to Premier League side Arsenal earlier in July but the two-year extension - with a salary upgrade - should end immediate speculation about his future.

 "I'm absolutely delighted that the coming years of my career will be spent at Borussia Dortmund," Aubameyang told BVB's official website.

 "I feel extremely comfortable at this club, playing with my team-mates and residing in this city. Dortmund has become a second home for me. I am committed to the club with all my heart and never considered departing."

Di Maria fined for Not Showing up for Man Utd US Tour

 
Manchester United have fined Angel Di Maria two weeks' wages in what is expected to be one of the final acts before the Argentine completes his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

Goal reported that United have withheld £360,000 from Di Maria's pay following the player's decision not to board a plane to San Jose to meet his team-mates during their recent US pre-season tour.

 The 27-year-old was due to join up with the club on July 25 following his delayed summer break after Copa America duty with Argentina.

 But after United manager Louis van Gaal admitted he did not know why Di Maria had not caught his flight as planned, talks quickly gained pace regarding an exit from Old Trafford just one year after his British-record £59.7 million arrival from Real Madrid.

PSG boss Laurent Blanc confirmed on Wednesday, following his club's 2-0 victory over United in the International Champions Cup in Chicago, that discussions with Di Maria were nearing a positive conclusion.

 "You know negotiations are [ongoing] and as Paris Saint-Germain [and United] are both big clubs, that can be difficult. But we feel we are close to the end," Blanc told a press conference.

 A deal worth a reported €62 million (£44m) is expected to be completed in the coming days.

 Di Maria recorded only 32 appearances in all competitions for United in 2014-15 including eight as a substitute, and started just one of the club's final 10 fixtures.

Nigeria U23 gaffer has said that the pride of participating in the Olympics would fire up his players to victory in Sunday’s second leg qualifier for the African U23 Championship against Congo U23. The Dream Team V1 were 2-1 better than Claude LeRoy’s side in the first leg played in Nigeria, and need at least a draw to qualify for the African U23 Championship which serves as qualifiers for Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

 The former Eagles’ head coach dismissed insinuations in some quarters that the Nigeria Football Federation has not motivated the team enough financially to boost their morale for the game in Pointe Noire.

 “The boys are not actually worried about it because they know that the Nigeria Football Federation is behind them. Like I used to say we are not playing for money,” Siasia told Goal.

 “These boys are playing for themselves and this country to make sure they qualify. I told them the Olympics is the greatest event ever in the world and that they should try and do the best they can to qualify.

 “We were there before and they have to try and be there again. It is going to give them a big platform to showcase themselves there. So money doesn’t have to come to play this time around.

 “But I am confident and told my boys that the Nigeria Football Federation is working on how to make them happy and pay their money.

 “ They should just go out there to beat Congo to make Nigerians and everybody happy. We just have to be patient with them”, he concluded.

 Nigeria departed for the east African country on Thursday with a squad of 20 players that had the likes of Junior Ajayi, Taiwo Awoniyi and Kingsley Sokari.

Arsenal Duo Walcott & Cazorla sign new Arsenal contracts

 Theo Walcott has signed a new four-year contract with Arsenal, while Santi Cazorla has also committed to a new deal.

 The 26-year-old, who is Arsenal's longest-serving player, entered the final year of his contract this summer but boss Arsene Wenger revealed on Sunday that an agreement over an extension was edging closer.

 And now Walcott has put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at the Emirates Stadium until June 2019, while Cazorla has also spurned interest from Atletico Madrid to commit his immediate future to the club.
